A trip to the French mountains is always une bonne idée. I’ll never say no to the fresh mountain air, the infinite nature and that immense sense of freedom that only mountains can give. In France, there is no lack of variation in mountain landscapes. I have lost my heart to the rugged peaks of the French Alps and the round green Vosges but the Pyrenees are just as beautiful. Active holidaymakers and nature lovers can enjoy their stay here as there is so much natural beauty to discover.
In this article I will take you to a specific spot in the Pyrenees. Font Romeu and surroundings to be precise, a ski village in the south of the Pyrenees. Now, you may have never heard of Font Romeu. A good reason to give this area some attention!

Travelling to Font Romeu
Font Romeu is located near the Spanish border in the Catalan Pyrenees. You can travel with your own car to the Pyrenees but a flight in combination with car hire is obviously a very good alternative. There are plenty of budget flights to Perpignan for example, which is located a stone’s throw from the Pyrenees. From Perpignan it’s about a 1,5 hours drive up to Font Romeu.
