A roadtrip through Northern Norway is an unforgettable experience. I just came back from an overwhelming journey full of new impressions. In a short time I saw so many beautiful places. It was a fantastic trip, which brought us through various pristine nature spots. I took plenty of pictures and shared some of these beautiful images on Instagram. These pictures give a nice impression of the trip, but there is more. Northern Norway is all natural beauty and I will write many more blogs about this bucketlist worthy roadtrip. Using the Instagram photos I shared, I already give a small impression of this wonderful journey.
Before we land at Evenes airport, I’m already impressed by the Norwegian landscape. From Oslo to Evenes we fly over snowy mountains ranges and blue lakes. I took this picture just a few seconds before landing. A great first impression of the country!
Some tropical island in the middle of rugged mountains..? no it's #northernnorway from the sky. This was only a few seconds before landing on the small Airport of Evenes.. and I'm already in 💚#norway #norge #mittnorge #imagesofnorway #bestofnorway #ilovenorway #thisisnorway #destinorway #visitnorway
On the Lofoten islands we hike to Ryten, a rock cliff that rises 543 meters above sea level. We reach this rock by hiking to a rugged paradise called Kvalvika Beach. Then we climb to this iconic top. This photo of Kvalvika Beach is taken from the top of the cliff.
On the Lofoten we do more than challenging hikes. We visit some beautiful beaches like Vik Beach, a perfect picnic spot. The sea looks very tempting until your feet touch the water. It’s cold as ice!
On Andoya, one of the islands of the Vesteralen, we hike part of the trail to Hoyvika Beach. Unfortunately we have no time to hike to the beach, but this view on the left part of the beach and surrounding mountains is already breathtaking. This beach is only accessible by boat or by foot.
The reason why we can only make part of the above-mentioned hike is the midnight safari, which starts at 22.00. During the midnight sun we are looking for puffins, sea eagles, gannets and many more bird species. The light is beautiful and going on a safari during the midnight sun is a very special experience.
A few days later we leave the sunny islands and drive up north. On the way we can see the Lyngen Alps. This mountain area is so rugged and beautiful that I have a hard time leaving this magnificent place.
The next day is very special. After driving more than three hours through an increasingly rugged and bare landscape filled with thousands of reindeer we reach the North Cape. Here we are welcomed by a strong storm. It’s very cloudy and foggy in the mountains around the cape, but a few hundred meters before the cape the sky gets a bit clearer. Despite the dark sky and strong wind, it feels special to be at the northernmost point of Europe. I thought it was worth a little yoga pose.
The last day of our trip we discover Tromso by foot. We take the gondola and hike through the mountains. From above the view of the city and surroundings is even more beautiful. In addition, there is still snow on the top of the mountains, which makes our short hike very fun.
The last day has arrived. Again we fly over pristine snowy mountain areas. A last view of a country that has conquered a piece of my heart.
