The Vosges invite you to stretch your legs and offer many beautiful hikes in different environments.
One of them is the short hike around the Lac de Lispach which is situated 9 km from the centre of La Bresse. This pleasant 3 km hike easily leads you around the lake.
The lake is situated at 900 meters and is close to a small family ski resort. In summer hiking is very popular here and in winter it becomes a paradise for skiers and especially cross-country skiers. The best time for hiking is from April to November. Outside this period the lake will surely be covered with snow. It’s still possible to walk with snowshoes. The views are beautiful in the winter on the other hand little of the wetlands are visible. The lake is partially surrounded by a very well kept wooden path and accessible to all. The height of the trail varies to a maximum of 50 meters. An easy walk!
On the trail you will encounter several wooden paths and wooden bridges, built to protect the fragile environment. The area is of great ecological importance. The floating bogs can be six meters thick in some places and offer a very diverse landscape.
Several educational panels explain more about life in the bogs and flora and fauna that can be found there. Frogs, snakes, deers, birds and fish are part of the inhabitants of this environment.
The area has many similarities with Eastern canadian landscapes. During this walk, you really feel like being in Canada..
Do you still have time left? Extend the hike with a visit to the old copper mine north of lake or continue your discovery on one of the many other hiking trails nearby.
